As part of the Computer Science class, our students are able to develop their practical skills as well as increase their knowledge of computer science theories. As part of the content on desktop publishing and publishing for the web, the students final graded project was to design and execute a magazine cover for a real or fictional magazine of their choosing. The students were able to produce several drafts on which they could iterate over several attempts. Here are two examples of their work.
One magazine cover was created about the student's passion for motor vehicles, specifically trucks. It composites several high-resolution images effectively and uses the rule of thirds for a striking layout. The student did especially well due to the angled border in the middle of the image, with symmetrical, capital-faced text, which stands out from the background and grabs the readers attention. This student went the extra mile and additionally produced a two-page article for his magazine project.
