On Wednesday we learned about Canada, including its geography, languages, seasons, wildlife, and its most popular sports. Kids discovered the kind of fish that their favorite sushi and "ikura" come from (salmon). For hand-on projects the kids expressed their creativity by drawing colorful versions of the Northern Lights. We also learned about totem poles, identified the birds and animals commonly used, and how they are used to tell stories and legends in Canadian aboriginal culture. In addition to coloring, some students even went on to design their own totem animals!
