First we measured the radius of a bike wheel to calculate the circumference. Knowing the perimeter of the tire, we could calculate the number of revolutions needed to cover a certain distance. After that we jumped on the bike trainer and started cycling in the virtual world. Our goal was to compare the virtual speed provided by the indoor cycling software (Zwift) with the actual distance covered by the back wheel, In the end, we analyzed the results and concluded that the cycling software is overspeeding an that we would need a wheel of 1.1m of diameter to cycle that fast!
